Paul and Corey played at the top level of their sport. Paul playing 11 years in the NFL. Corey competed professionally for 9 years in the Pro Rodeo world in the Bareback riding. They both attained over 10,000+ Repeated Hits, sub concussive hits and concussions in their life time.
Paul Frase played football in High School (Spaulding High), college (Syracuse University) and professional football for the New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars, Green Bay Packers and Baltimore Ravens as a defensive tackle and defensive end.
He was part of the original testing for bio-markers for CTE at Boston University where he went through extensive neurological tests, MRI's, and Psychological evaluations.
He believes he is suspected CTE after all the testing and symptoms.
Corey Berry's Rodeo career started at a young age, getting on his first rough stock at the age of 8, Riding steers. He then moved up to bulls for a few years before finding his passion for riding Bareback Broncs. He got on his first Bareback at age 14 and never stopped, rodeoing in numerous organizations and going Pro in 1989. He retired from the sport in 1998 after sustainging a broken neck as well as suffering from cognitive issues. He continued to ride and team rope until he was in a car accident in 2022.
After suffering from cognitive issues since 1998 Corey fully retired in 2022 and started seeing top neurologists and getting tested. He went for evaluation at UT Health San Antonio-Glenn Briggs Institute for Alzheimer's and Neuro Degenerative diseases CTE Evaluation Center. He was diagnosed Traumatic Encephalopathy Syndrome (TES), probable CTE.
Now, this disease has brought them together. They started the HeadRush Podcast to bring HOPE and Awareness to this horrible disease. Knowing that the medical world can be a struggle to navigate, they have been reaching out to Top Neurologists, Medical Research Universities, neuroendocrinologists, psychiatrists, as well as other medical professionals, in order to be able to help streamline the process for others.
They have been in discussions with several other foundations to help bring awareness to CTE, like the Patrick Risha CTE Awareness Foundation, Mac Parkman Foundation, Concussion Legacy Foundation, Millennium Heath Centers, Paradise Behavioral Centers and many others.
Plus they Both are part of the research at Boston University CTE Center for ongoing clinical trials, and donated their brains to Boston University CTE Center post mortem.
They want to help bring Awareness and HOPE to CTE and all other related Brain Trauma injuries.
